Our team
The people behind
your portfolios
CIO Complete gives you direct access to the investment professionals building and managing your models — not a service desk, not a call center. The people you work with are the people making the decisions.
Chuck Etzweiler
Chief Investment Officer
CFACFP®Areas of focus
- Multi-asset portfolio construction
- Thematic macro research
- Compliance documentation
- Client-ready investment narratives
Chuck Etzweiler is the Chief Investment Officer of CIO Complete, where he leads portfolio construction, investment strategy, and the firm's thematic research process. With more than two decades of institutional asset management experience, Chuck brings a disciplined, conviction-driven approach to portfolio design that is rarely available to independent advisory practices.
Prior to founding CIO Complete, Chuck held senior investment roles at institutional asset managers, where he developed and managed multi-asset portfolios for institutional clients including endowments, foundations, and family offices. That experience — building investment processes that can withstand regulatory scrutiny, client questions, and market volatility — is the foundation of everything CIO Complete delivers.
Chuck's investment philosophy centers on thematic, forward-looking portfolio construction. Rather than building consensus-driven allocations that mirror the benchmark, he identifies structural trends — in monetary policy, earnings cycles, sector rotation, and global capital flows — and builds portfolios that reflect a clear, defensible thesis. Every holding has a role. Every portfolio tells a story.
"Portfolios should reflect a point of view, not a committee compromise. The best investment process is one you can explain clearly to a client at 9 PM when markets are down."
Craig Golden
Director of Portfolio Strategy

- Fund due diligence
- Client-ready commentary
- Quarterly portfolio review
Craig Golden serves as Director of Portfolio Strategy at CIO Complete, overseeing thematic research, model portfolio development, and the ongoing analysis that keeps advisor portfolios current, defensible, and client-ready.
Craig's background spans both the buy side and independent advisory, giving him a rare dual perspective: he understands the rigor required to build institutional-quality investment processes, and he understands the practical realities of running a planning-focused practice. That combination shapes how CIO Complete translates complex market dynamics into clear, actionable narratives advisors can use directly in client conversations.
He leads the firm's quarterly portfolio review process, coordinates fund due diligence, and authors the weekly, monthly, and quarterly commentary that CIO Complete clients use to communicate with their own clients. His work ensures that every portfolio decision is supported by documented rationale — and that advisors always have something substantive to say.
"The gap between good investment thinking and what advisors can actually use with clients is where most outsourced solutions fall short. We close that gap."
